A Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a person credentialed by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) who has successfully passed a rigorous test encompassing the following:

• Cost Management
• Internal controls
• Performance Measurement
• Financial Reporting
• Decision Analysis
• Organization Management
• Strategic Planning
• Ethics
  

Additionally, they must possess a minimum of Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized university and two years experience. Qualifying experience is obtained in positions which require regularly made judgments employing the principles of management accounting and financial management. For example, such employment includes financial analysis; budget preparation; management information systems analysis; management accounting and auditing in government, finance, or industry; management consulting; auditing in public accounting; and full-time college level teaching.
